Mitchell Trubisky off to roaring start, Glennon struggles

Unfortunately, for the Denver Broncos, it was the wrong shades of Orange and Blue.

Trubisky, the second pick in the National Football League draft, went 18-25 for 166 yards and a touchdown after replacing starting quarterback Mike Glennon who went 2-8 for 20 yards and an interception. Defensive end Akiem Hicks is one of those second-year guys (as are Floyd and Bullard) in the defense, who explained the year-to-year improvement earlier this week.

GONE IN 60 SECONDS: The starting defense was slated to play longer, but Chris Harris Jr.'s 50-yard pick-6 on the third snap meant the end of the day for numerous starters after exactly one minute. The Broncos practice with the 49ers two days next week in advance of their game in which Lynch will start. He was on the field for all of the Bears points, two touchdowns and a field goal. "If it worked out and we had a two-minute drive, we would put Mitchell in". " Joseph said, seemingly baffled by the question. "No".

Trubisky came on just before halftime and directed three scoring drives, leading the Bears back from a 10-0 deficit. Denver was unable to run for the final yard the next play.

Denver's Trevor Siemian did nothing to hurt his standing as the leader for the starting quarterback job, while Paxton Lynch did little to close any ground. However, although it wasn't flashy, Siemian controlled the ball and showed the coaches he has the composure to be a starting quarterback. When he targeted Latimer, he was 5-for-5 for 28 yards. "We had 170-plus yards and averaged about 4.8 yards per carry".

Every one of Lynch's possessions ended with a punt. His first series was a flawless example of this, a one-yard scramble on first down followed by an overthrown pass and capped off by a three-yard scramble on 3rd-and-8.

The North Carolina product completed 18 of 25 passes in his first pro appearance after making just 13 college starts. He also added 38 yards on three rush attempts. "And it brings us closer so we can approach it and get better as a group".

The touchdown drive covered 50 yards in just six plays and took 1:42 off the clock.

Despite this, Bears head coach John Fox noted Thursday night that the team's quarterback depth chart will remain unchanged.

How they handle it will be critical to the futures of both quarterbacks. After spoon-feeding him short throws to get his confidence up the Bears let him play more.

Sloter played quarterback at the University of Northern Colorado.
