Kissimmee Police officers fatally shot

"Sending out prayers", tweeted Orlando Police Chief John Mina.

Two cops were fatally shot in the Florida community of Kissimmee Friday night, authorities said.

The shooting happened in the area of Palmway and Cypress around 9:30 p.m. on Friday. He then tweeted about the officers shot in Jacksonville. Details of the shooting incident were not immediately known, but community leaders began sending condolences over Twitter.

The names of the slain Kissimmee officers have not been released at this time.

Police officers and deputies from St. Cloud, Orlando, Orange County and Florida Highway Patrol troopers were assisting the Kissimee Police Department.

"Heartbreaking loss of two of Kissimmee's finest officers".

Up until Friday night, it had been 34 years since a Kissimmee Police Department officer was killed in the line of duty.
