It happened right after the plane from Panama City landed and was taxiing down the runway around 2:30 p.m.

The plane was taxiing at San Francisco International Airport when the teen, who according to reports was a US citizen, forced open the door, jumped onto the plane wing, and slid down to the tarmac.

Airport spokesman Doug Yakel said an airfield construction crew took hold of the teen and he is in custody.

It's unclear what charges, if any, the teen might face. Copa Airlines lands at SFO and a passenger could not wait until they got to the gate.

Sophia Gibson tells San Francisco television station KGO-TV (http://abc7ne.ws/2vgIEGE ) people sitting next the 17-year-old were surprised when he jumped out of the plane and onto a wing shortly after the plane landed at the San Francisco Airport.

In his statement, Yakel mentioned that no other flights or runaways had been affected and the boy was not injured too.

The flight continued to taxi to its gate and all the other passengers were offloaded there. According to the passengers, the boy seemed too anxious and fidgety throughout the flight.

The airline says it is cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation.

A passenger has opened an aeroplane door and jumped out prior to the plane arriving at the terminal in San Francisco.

In April in the same year, a United Airlines flight attendant also pulled off a similar incident by jumping off an aircraft.
