Erinn Hayes' Character To Be Killed Off In Kevin Can Wait

Hayes was sacked at the end of last season and Leah Rimini, star Kevin James' co-star in The King of Queens, was added as a series regular. Although Remini played a detective in just a handful of episodes last season, producers really felt that the chemistry between James and Remini was palpable - as it always has been - and they chose to remove Hayes from the upcoming credits altogether.

In June, it was revealed that Erinn Hayes, who played Kevin's wife Donna in the first season, was leaving the show.

Kahl said Hayes is "a terrific actress", but, "when everybody collectively saw how Leah and Kevin worked together in those last couple of episodes, there was just an undeniable spark there".

It's no surprise that some Kevin Can Wait fans were up in arms about the news that Donna Gable will be killed off. On the same day, Erinn Hayes shared she was cut from the series.

"True, I've been let go from the show", Hayes wrote on social media after news of her exit broke.

Kahl further revealed in the panel that Leah Remini was originally invited to appear in the "Kevin Can Wait" Season 1 two-part finale last May as a stunt casting, as shows often do.

CBS has stressed that when they send Donna Gable to that cast reshuffling castle in the sky they will do so with "dignity and respect".

Kahl also added that James' character "will date at some point" but insiders at CBS caution that there is no plan to turn Kevin Can Wait into the new King of Queens. It'll be interesting to see how viewers react to the reunion of the two King of Queens leads. The two Kevin Can Wait characters are "literally Doug and Carrie as cops", she said, referring to their former iterations of Doug and Carrie Heffernan. Very sad, I had a great experience season 1.

Kahl explained that "Kevin Can Wait" will have a nine or ten month time-jump when the show returns so that the TV family can have some time to cope with the death of their mother and wife.
