Today, we are excited and proud to share that one billion people around the world use WhatsApp every day to stay in touch with their family and friends. In its official blog made an announcement that it reached a user base of 1 billion daily users and a massive 1.3 billion monthly users of the app.

Action Fraud have issued a warning over a Whatsapp scam targeting users of the messaging service.

A spokesman for Action Fraud said: "Whilst late adopters of the service might look at the email below and simply brush it off, long term users will remember paying and could quite easily think the app has gone back to its subscription model and get caught out".

The WhatsApp Messenger app is available for Android on Google Play. This quarter we also announced that more than 250 million people use Instagram Stories every day, and more than 250 million people use WhatsApp Status every day. Videos shared per day are now at 1 billion, and photos shared per day are at 4.5 billion, the company added. Yes, you read that right, these numbers reflect the total number of files being shared every single day. Moreover, WhatsApp offers support for 60 different languages. We have been getting an increasing number of reports about them over the past couple of days.

For the sake of comparison, Facebook just recently announced that it now has about 2 billion monthly users. It then asks you to update your payment information, stating that your one-year free trial period has ended.

The two Facebook-owned apps are now lapping their chief competitor - Snapchat - which "only" has 166 daily active users.
