Right from the start, there had been considerable speculation in local media channels about the same actor being involved.

Rejecting the bail plea of Dileep, the High Court said the evidence presented by prosecution shows that there is, prima facie, materials to suspect the involvement of the actor in the crime.

The court also said that the actor may use it to hamper the investigation using it. The possibility of including new persons as accused in the crime also can not be ruled out as per the prosecution, the judge noted.

Dismissing Dileep's bail plea, PTI reported, Justice Sunil Thomas said the investigation in the case is progressing and the mobile phone, stated by the prosecution as key evidence in the case, has not yet been recovered. Dileep was not an even accused in the final report submitted in April. However, Dileep's counsel had informed the court that there was no evidence at all against the actor. Dileep's counsel had also asked why the actress didn't say any word about his alleged involvement in the crime.

Although the actor had moved Kerala High Court earlier, the court had reserved its verdict. He argued that his client had been questioned for a total of 23 hours by the police, and that he was not required any more for the objective of the investigation.

Meanwhile, sources said that Dileep would not approach the Supreme Court immediately. If the charge is serious and investigations in the case are ongoing, then chances of receiving bail are very low. More people from film fraternity will also be questioned in the coming days in connection with the case. It is unlikely that they will be able to release their completed films - or complete those that are in different stages of production. Thus he has to continue at the Aluva Sub-Jail till further orders. The statement of Congress MLA PT Thomas, who was among the first to call the police after the assault of the actress took place in February, could be crucial. So how the case will add up once all the evidence is in, remains unclear.
