Novak Djokovic looked to have regained his confidence and form just in time for another concerted Wimbledon assault as he carved out an emphatic win over Gael Monfils in the Aegon International grasscourt final at Eastbourne on Saturday.

"I like to play the week before a Grand Slam and get matches in", she said.

Djokovic has dropped to fourth in the world rankings after a turbulent year in which he has won only one title and split with his coaching team.

"It's been a while now that I have been trying to find my best game and kind of consistency", Djokovic said.

"I won't rule out coming to Eastbourne next year or in the following years, but it depends on the schedule and the tournaments and my results".

It is the first time that Djokovic has played at Eastbourne, a sign of how seriously he is taking his Wimbledon preparation after a tough 2017.

Seventh seed Gasquet saved two match points at 6-2 5-4 with a brilliant stretching drop-shot, before Monfils needed lengthy treatment in the next game when he injured his knee after slipping on the baseline.

Andy Murray begins his quest for a third Wimbledon title over the next fortnight after his triumphs in 2013 and previous year. Her long stride and deep, powerful shots along with a good touch a the net make her a formidable oponent on any surface - she'll take some beating at Wimbledon. I was also in final.

The Serb mixed up his game effectively and was dominant on serve, not allowing Monfils an opportunity to break back in an ultra-efficient opening set. Either way, however, both players have performed well this week. I moved well, too. "So, you know, it depends a lot on how he feels, how he serves".
