Niantic event is good news for Pikachu fans

Developer Niantic celebrating the app's one-year anniversary this year with plenty of real-world and in-game events, but Fluent found that 50 percent of people surveyed were "much less" interested in it compared to other mobile games.

Pokemon Go is a mobile title launched past year but, the game is still going strong as the game has passed $1.2 billion in revenue.

For starters, players will be able to find and catch Pikachu wearing Pokemon protagonist Ash's famous hat from the Pokemon animated series from now until July 13. The box contains Max Revives, Incubators, Ultra Balls, and a Raid Pass.

Pokémon Go is losing its Hypno-esque grip on consumers after its breakout summer a year ago, according to a survey by the marketing platform Fluent LLC. It will likely drop at the same time as the special Pikachu. That, or the rumor's creator has a great sense for timing.

Pokemon Go is nearing a billion downloads worldwide, so after 12 months, it's still going strong.

This includes the Pokemon Go Fest, which will be hosted in Chicago's Grant Park on July 22 and will feature various Pokemon themed activities to take part in with your fellow trainers. It could be as simple as activating a new tier for Raid Battles, perhaps with Legendary Pokemon as a reward, or it may be something more elaborate.

Ash's Pikachu is making its way to Pokemon Go.
