Microsoft Rescues MS Paint

The company did release an alternative Paint 3D app in April's Windows Creators Update this year, though, it wasn't an exact replacement for the traditional Paint.

Microsoft has confirmed it's not killing the 32-year old Paint app after all.

Microsoft in its blog said: "MS Paint is here to stay, it will just have a new home soon, in the Windows Store where it will be available for free".

Such a move seems logical though given that Microsoft has already introduced the Paint 3D app early this year and is created to come across as a more modern replacement of the Paint. "It has been unbelievable to see so much love for our trusty old app", it said.

Paint was born with Windows 1.0 in 1985, as a licensed version of ZSoft's PC Paintbrush. Well, the software giant said MS Paint would remain alive and well...but in the Windows Store as a free download.

"MS Paint is not going away". Yes, you will be able to use Paint, but you'll have to keep in mind to go to the Windows Store to download the app.

While Paint will no longer be part of Windows operating system by default, it will be available free in the Windows Store and be updated by the U.S. software powerhouse, according to Saunders.

Microsoft has now joined the hands with Johnson Controls, creator of the first electric room thermostat, to bring in a smart thermostat invention for Windows 10 IoT core, titled as GLAS. Whether, like Clippy, Windows users will celebrate or decry Paint's removal, it will be a moment in the history of Windows as one of its longest-standing apps is put out to pasture.

During the Creators Update launch event, the company said that users could export 3D models from Minecraft.

Besides MS Paint some of the other programs that will not be available in the new update will be the 3D Builder app, Outlook Express, Reader app, Screen saver functionality in Themes and a few others. The new Paint 3D app is also designed from grounds up taking into account the changes the computing industry itself has evolved into off late.
