Showing the new Audi A8 luxury sedan in all of its technological glory in the movie does nothing short of skyrocket public interest in the auto. At 5.17 metres long, the new A8 is nearly exactly the same length as its major rivals, the Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 Series and Jaguar XJ.

Another novelty feature in the new A8 is the Active Suspension, that automatically adjusts the suspension in anticipation of a pothole, thereby, offering better ride quality.

The new A8 will introduce a number of new autonomous driving features, including Audi's AI traffic jam pilot system. "Artificial Intelligence" AI traffic jam assist takes over in slow-moving traffic which, says Audi, allows the driver to watch the in-car TV. Audi is the first manufacturer using a laser scanner along with radar systems and other sensors to understand its surroundings. Information gathered from each device is processed in a central controller - the key to what Audi describes as permanent merging of data for added autonomous driving precision. While the vehicle can and will quite happily accelerate, brake and steer itself under those aforementioned conditions, allowing the driver to catch up with e-mails or watch TV, the legality of this situation is going to differ from country to country.

The new A8 draws on the latest evolution of Audi's Major League Baseball platform. There is a 48-volt main electrical system at the heart of the vehicle with additional electric motors at each wheel.

A series of audio and visual alerts will tell the driver when to retake control, said Mirko Reuter, Audi's head of automated driving.

As easy as it is to get caught up in the A8 technological updates, Audi has also taken similar strides to update its flagship sedan's look and driving dynamics. The suspension uses part of the AI's fully active suspension to scan the road ahead and decide on which wheel angle should be adjusted so that the passengers have the least amount of discomfort inside the auto.

The new Audi A8 Price is Euro 90,600 and Euro 94,100 for the A8 L. The two models will appear on the German market in late fall 2017.

The dashboard of the new Audi A8 are nearly completely exempt from buttons and switches. Audi says that this alone can drops fuel consumption by as much as 0.7 liters per 100 km in real driving conditions.

There is also the new A8L e-tron quattro which is a plug-in hybrid and makes use of the 3.0-litre petrol as well as an electrical system to produce a combined output of 449PS and 700Nm. This auto can even navigate itself in a traffic jam unlike the cruise-controlled cars that just had limited functionality of following lines at a constant speed. A 3.0 liter TDI V6 with 286 hp and a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6, the same unit as in the Audi S4, and with 340 hp will be the launch engines. The electric motor will be supplied juice from a lithium-ion battery pack that is expected to offer an all-electric range of around 50 km.

Cars fitted with the autonomous driving feature will also be able to park themselves in garages without the need for the driver to be sitting in the auto. Two eight-cylinder versions - a 4.0 TDI with 435hp and a 4.0 TFSI with 460hp - will follow slightly later.

The sedan comes with a hybrid engine and a new infotainment system. Passengers in the A8L get more head and leg room, as well as the option of a special reclining seat with a warming foot massager.
