Pigs run wild on Texas road after crash

- Several pigs were wandering a Texas interstate early Thursday after a truck transporting the pigs crashed.

NBC's Dallas-Fort Worth affiliate reports that both directions of the highway were closed as of 6:45 a.m. Thursday morning.

The truck flipped onto its side and caught fire, killing several pigs and freeing others from their enclosure.

The crash involved two 18-wheelers and a auto.

The driver of the semitrailer was not injured in the incident, and firefighters reportedly sprayed the pigs down with water to keep them cool in the Texas heat.

There's no word on what caused the crash.

'We had a total of 195 [pigs on the semi]. The animals made their way out of the trailer, with some going as far as a half-mile away before responders started to corral them. "We do not know how many dead-loss or how many ran off", Wilmer Police Department Lt. Eric Pon said.
