Two days after the tragic assault, Taye hung himself from his bunk and died.

The family's attorney [Jennifer Branch] says there is video of Gabe being attacked by another student in the boys bathroom [at Carson Elementary School] and lost consciousness. Attorneys for the boy's mother say the child lay unconscious for 7½ minutes before an assistant principal came to his aid.

At the time, officials at Carson Elementary School told her there was no evidence of bullying and that Gabe had simply fainted.

According to her attorneys, Reynolds didn't learn of the bullying until the attorneys received a copy of a police investigative file that contained an email from a homicide detective to school officials describing the surveillance video.

The Cincinnati news outlet obtained a report from the OH town's police department which contains a surveillance video outside of the pre-kindergarten through sixth grade, Carson Elementary School bathroom.

District officials and attorneys for Gabriel's mother have disputed what the mother was told the day Gabriel was knocked unconscious.

Now, the mother wants answers as to why this all happened.

Jennifer Branch, another lawyer for the family, said Reynolds had not been told of the alleged incident in the restroom. The detective said it could rise to the level of criminal assault if the children involved weren't so young.

"It's kind of tough talking to a five-year-old about someone she's seen every day after school not being there no more, and why did he killed himself", Gibson said. She claims there is proof her son was bullied at his elementary school days before his suicide, and says she doesn't feel enough was done to prevent bullying at his school. Leader said the boy came home from school on January 26, spoke with his mother and went into his bedroom.

Cincinnati schools on Friday released choppy footage from a hallway security camera of the interaction, blurring out students' faces to protect their privacy. A coroner has asked Cincinnati police to treat the suicide "as a homicide until proven otherwise".

Also Thursday, Hamilton County Coroner Lakshmi Sammarco told a 700-WLW radio program that her office is reopening the investigation into the child's death.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Gabriel's mother, Cornelia Reynolds, took him to the hospital for vomiting that evening and kept him home the next day.

The district's statement Friday followed release of the video showing Gabriel Taye being bullied and falling to the floor unconscious. The child with the Beckham Jr. hairstyle stopped one of the kids from leaving and punched him so hard in the stomach that the boy fell down on all fours.

Her 9-year-old daughter, Jericka, said she has been bullied as recently as this week, when another girl smacked her.

The school system responded at the time by saying there had been no reports of bullying at Carson between August and December 2016, the Cincinnati Inquirer reported. He was sent to the nurse's office, then taken home by his mother.

"There needs to be a lot more response in that school to what is going on and the parents need to know what's going on".
