Launched at INR 4.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Dzire becomes compliant with futuristic norms which will come into effect from October 2017.

RS Kalsi, executive director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India, reveals the pricing of the new Dzire.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire VS Tata Tigor - Engine Specifications: On the mechanically front, the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes with same set of engine options wherein the petrol unit is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol mill and the diesel version gets 1.3-litre DDiS diesel motor.

The new Dzire had been developed on 5th generation "Heartect" platform, which helps in reduction of weight and improves frame rigidity.

Its smooth sedan styling, more plush and roomy interiors, superior overall comfort and advanced safety features (details in the box) make the New Dzire even more aspirational - and desirable. For its new generation, the compact sedan has ditched the Swift name from its moniker and is thus only called as the Dzire, unlike its predecessors that had the Swift Dzire branding.

Now, the company has made a decision to drop the prefix "Swift" from the name of the upcoming new generation Dzire.

"Now we have designed a whole new Dzire for sedan customers to fulfil the growing aspirations of a young and prosperous India", Ayukawa said.

Engines: All cars have sub 1.5 litre engines.

In terms of features, the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire is a far cry from the outgoing model.

Maruti claims a fuel economy figure of 22kpl for the petrol motor in both manual and automatic guise and 28.4kpl for the diesel unit. Maruti starts offering the five-speed automated manual gearbox options from this trim onwards.

According to RS Kalsi, the new Maruti will be produced only at Manesar plant for now although there is sufficient capacity available at the Gurgaon plant as well. Equipment offered on the new top trim includes LED projector headlamps with auto-on function, new alloy wheels (same size as on the ZXi), reverse parking camera and Maruti's SmartPlay infotainment system. Moreover, the new generation Dzire also gets minor cosmetic change as the tail lamps has revised design.

The Z trims are one below the top-spec and gets 15 inch alloy wheels and chrome window linings for that premium look.

Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday launched the all new DZire tagged between Rs 5.45 lakh and Rs 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to take on the likes of Hyundai XCent, Honda Amaze and Volkswagen Ameo.
