Terrifying cellphone video captured the moment a kangaroo reached through its wire-fence enclosure at an Alabama safari and attacked a screaming 9-year-old girl.

A concerned mother says she is unhappy about how Harmony Park Safari handled a hard situation. The animal then retaliates by reaching through the fence, grabbing the older daughter by the hair and biting her head.

A 9-year-old girl is recovering after being injured by a kangaroo in Alabama.

The kangaroo appeared to bite Cheyenne on the head, leaving the girl with 14 stitches, her mother, Jennifer, who took the video, told local news outlets. You can clearly see it or pet it or it could touch you, which makes you feel more, like, safe.

Speaking about the ordeal her daughter faced, White told WAFF: 'You blame yourself sometimes, like, you know, "why did I take her to the park that day?", "Why did I take her to see the kangaroo?'" The footage showed that her three-year-old sister had even reached out her hand to the animal.

"I'm just glad I was there", Jennifer said.

The park has not commented on the incident.

Staffers say they hope the little girl is OK.

At the entrance to the Kangaroo Trail, signs are posted that warn visitors that they take their own risks, and there are two plaques on the fence that say "I bite".

'I thought it was playing, ' Cheyenne told WAFF.

Cheyenne's mother says she isn't telling anyone not to take their kids to the zoo.
