Now, with Deadpool a proven hit with fans and a sequel on the way, we can also expect a similarly adults-only experience coming to our TVs in the form of an animated series - helmed by none other than Childish Gambino himself.

It's officially announced that an animated adaptation of the Merc with a Mouth is being developed by Donald Glover ("Atlanta") and his writer brother Stephen Glover. With Donald Glover and his brother, Stephen, attached as showrunners.

According to Variety, the untitled show has been given a straight-to-series order, with the first season containing 10-episodes expected to debut in 2018. They will serve as executive producers on the Marvel Television and FX Productions series. With the success of Legion, we're looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original. Glover has certainly proven his comedic chops throughout his career, and his affinity for comic books and nerd culture give him the ideal base to do this beloved character justice.

Jeph Loeb added, "How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX - the ideal fit for the Merc with the Mouth", Marvel's Jeph Loeb says in a statement about the new show.

The live action film version of Deadpool made over $780 million at the worldwide box office, becoming the highest-grossing R-Rated movie in history.

No voice actors for this Deadpool series have yet been named, although it would pretty damn great to have Reynolds on board.
